A brighter future through better understanding for young people with Down’s syndrome
Wakefield and District Down's Syndrome Support Group
This project will provide support and training for parents and siblings of babies and children with Down’s Syndrome, including packs, social trips and activities. There will also be training in Makaton, which uses signs and symbols to help people communicate, and Numicon, a multi-sensory approach to teaching maths. This will give people with Down’s syndrome and their families the tools, skills and support to be more independent and confident so they can get the most out of life.
Funding requested: £50,000
